Notes and Reports
Writing encrypted call notes, submitting reports, and using custom fields.
This guide covers Desktop, iOS, and Android. Where the experience differs, platform-specific instructions are noted.
Notes let you record information about calls and interactions in a structured, encrypted format. Reports are a related feature for submitting incident reports, tips, or other structured information to your organization.
Writing a note
Notes are typically created during or after a call, but you can also create standalone notes.
On Desktop: During a call, use the note-taking panel that appears alongside the call screen. After a call, go to the Notes page and click New Note. You can also press Ctrl+N to open a new note.
On iOS: During a call, tap the Notes icon in the call screen. After a call, go to the Notes tab and tap + to create a new note.
On Android: During a call, tap the Notes icon. After a call, open the Notes screen and tap the floating action button to create a new note.
Note fields
When creating a note, you can fill in:
- Main text — the body of your note. Write as much or as little as you need.
- Custom fields — your admin may have configured dropdowns, checkboxes, or text fields specific to your hotline. Fill these in when prompted.
- Attachments — upload files if relevant. Files are encrypted before upload.
Notes are auto-saved as encrypted drafts as you type. You will not lose your work if the app is interrupted.
Saving and encrypting notes
When you save a note, it is encrypted on your device before being sent to the server. Only you and admins with the right permissions can read your notes. The server never has access to the plaintext content.
Submitting a report
Reports are separate from call notes and are intended for structured submissions — incident reports, tips, or anything that follows your organization’s report template.
On Desktop: Go to the Reports page and click New Report.
On iOS: Open the Reports tab and tap +.
On Android: Open the Reports screen and tap the floating action button.
Fill in the report title, select a category (if defined by your admin), add your content, and attach files if needed. Submit when ready. Reports appear in the list with a status of Open.
Tracking reports
Your Reports section shows all reports you have submitted. Each entry shows:
- Title and category
- Status: Open, Claimed (someone is handling it), or Resolved
- Date submitted
Tap or click a report to see the full thread, including any responses.
For reporters
If you have a reporter account, the Reports section is your primary interface. You can submit reports and track their status, but you will not see calls or notes — this is by design to protect everyone’s privacy.
Attachments
Files attached to notes or reports are encrypted on your device before upload. The server never sees the original file. Only authorized users can decrypt attachments.
