Notifications and Presence
Configuring how you get notified about calls and messages, using break mode, and seeing who is online.
This guide covers Desktop, iOS, and Android. Where the experience differs, platform-specific instructions are noted.
Staying aware of incoming calls and messages is essential during your shift. This guide covers how notifications work, how to customize them, and how to use break mode when you need a pause.
Notification types
On Desktop
The hotline notifies you about incoming calls in three ways:
- Browser ringtone — an audio alert that plays in your browser tab
- Push notification — a system notification that appears even when the browser is minimized
- Tab title flashing — the browser tab title changes to alert you visually
For push notifications to work, grant notification permission when your browser asks. If you denied it accidentally, change this in your browser’s site settings for the hotline URL.
On iOS
Push notifications arrive via the system push notification service, even when the app is closed or the screen is locked. Ensure notifications are enabled for the app in your iOS Settings → Notifications. You can customize notification sounds and banners there.
On Android
Push notifications use Firebase Cloud Messaging and appear in your system notification drawer. Ensure notifications are enabled for the app in Android Settings → Apps → Llamenos → Notifications. You can configure notification channels (ringtone, vibration) there.
Customizing notifications
Go to Preferences or Settings to adjust notification settings:
- Toggle the ringtone on or off
- Choose your preferred notification sound
- Adjust volume or vibration (on mobile, these are controlled by your device system settings)
Break mode
Sometimes you need to step away during a shift. Toggle Break Mode to pause incoming calls temporarily.
While on break:
- Calls will not ring your device
- You remain assigned to your shift
- Other users on the same shift will still receive calls
- Your status shows as “on break” to others
Toggle break mode off when you are ready to take calls again.
Activating break mode by platform
On Desktop: Click the break mode toggle in the sidebar or use the command palette (Ctrl+K).
On iOS: Tap your avatar or the status indicator in the top bar, then toggle Break Mode.
On Android: Tap the break mode option in the navigation drawer or from the dashboard.
Presence indicators
The dashboard shows which users are currently online and available. This helps your team know who is around:
- Available — online and ready to take calls
- On break — online but not receiving calls
- Offline — not currently connected
Tips
- On Desktop: keep your browser tab open during your shift for the most reliable notifications
- If you are not hearing ringtones on Desktop, check that your browser tab is not muted (right-click the tab to check)
- Use break mode instead of closing the app — it keeps you connected and makes it easy to resume
